HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Medical Laboratory Technician / MLT PRN in McKinney, Texas


Position Summary: Under the direction of the Pathologist and Director of Laboratory Services and in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local regulations and accrediting agencies, the Medical Laboratory Technologist maintains a high level of quality work; performs various chemical, microscopic and bacteriologic tests to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Receives or obtains specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepares tissue for microscopic examination, hematology, serology, blood banking, urinalysis, chemical and morphological examinations. Assumes responsibility for problem solving and quality control.

Expect to care for adult patients, including the older adult through geriatric, and pediatric patients from newborn through adolescence.

Education: -Associates degree in applied science and training culminating in certification by ASCP or AMT as a Medical Laboratory Technician or qualify as testing personnel under CLIA'88.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: -Current license/certification. -Possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. -Possess the ability to deal tactfully with all types of personnel and medical staff members. -Knowledgeable of laws, regulations and standards of accrediting agencies. -Must possess the ability to prioritize responsibilities and handle multiple projects simultaneously. -Awareness of consequences for reporting errors. -Ability to work under emergency conditions. -Ability to maintain attention to details for extended periods of time.
