Lockheed Martin Software Engineering Manager in Manassas, Virginia

Description: Join the Lockheed Martin leadership team located just west of Washington DC in the more rural area of Manassas, Virginia. The ideal candidate will assume a Software Engineering first line management position in Rotary Mission System's C6ISR line of business with a focus on the Anti Submarine Warfare program domain.

The candidate will be responsible for the technical, cost, and schedule execution of Application Software Development activities for a number of simultaneous program milestones and objectives across the program area. The chosen candidate will be engaged in Application Development with a focus on the Graphical User Interfaces and operator interaction.

The candidate will be responsible for the development activities across the full software development life cycle, ensuring the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools are applied. You will be given the opportunity to advance the craft of software engineering, implementing new and modern tools and techniques for development, test, and automation.

The role requires knowledge of object oriented development and Java. Candidate will be responsible for personnel management of a software team to include performance assessment, career development guidance, assignment onto programs, merit and salary actions, training plans, staffing and recruiting. The individual will have the opportunity to provide innovative contributions to the development of new business opportunities and product line road maps.

Desired Skills: Prior experience and/or knowledge of the ASW Acoustic Rapid Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Insertion (ARCI) process.

Understanding of Software Architectures

Experience with Waterfall and Agile life cycle models.

New business Capture experience a plus.

CAM certified


Demonstrable knowledge and experience with software development activities on real-time systems.

Proven leadership experience in engineering assignments and successful proven results in leading and executing on software intensive programs.

Strong and proven understanding of the Engineering development process.

Ability to multi-task, outstanding effective communication skills, and a strong track record of team building.

Working knowledge in the development of software using multiple programming languages and tools (e.g. C, C++, Java).

Current Security Clearance of Interim Secret or higher
