Overtime Status: Nonexempt (N) Reports to/Dept: Maintenance Leader Shift: 8-12hr rotating shifts- OT required as needed SUMMARY The Maintenance Mechanic position is an hourly position in the Roofing plant, reporting to the Maintenance Leader. The employee maintains production and quality by working closely with the production team to troubleshoot and maintain the working order of all production machines and equipment in a safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant condition. The craftsman must strive to achieve the highest operating efficiency, job efficiency, and standard of performance possible while maintaining product quality. We are targeting a 1st class mechanic, but may fill this position at a more junior level for a candidate with demonstrated mechanical/technical experience. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: SAFETY Follow and enforce all safety rules, regulations, procedures, training, and initiatives Maintain good housekeeping in all work areas Participate on safety teams QUALITY Accurately enter data into computer systems Confirm information reported on paperwork before submission Monitor and report unusual or suspect material, product, or equipment issues OPERATIONS Ensure the operation of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on production equipment, PLC’s, and machinery wiring following schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications troubleshooting and repairing Minimize downtime by performing routine preventive maintenance in a cooperative team environment Prepare maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends Enter and confirm work done in SAP Maintain technical knowledge SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have the aptitude to learn about and work on/with mechanical equipment bearing assemblies, drive assemblies, pumps, and gear boxes power tools, powered industrial vehicles, technical work pneumatics and hydraulics basic electrical Welding, cutting, and machining skills preferred PLC skills are a plus Must be able to work with a computer to perform basic data entry Must have the ability to do complex mathematical calculations Must be able to read, write, and speak English Must be able to work flexible shift schedules Must be able to work rotating schedule Must be able to work on call Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility are required COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE COMPETENCIES Must be able to operate a computer or other keyboard instrument Microsoft Office SAP EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Minimum high school diploma or equivalent ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT Exposure to temperature extremes Exposure to dust/dirt and fiberglass Exposure to variable weather conditions Mandatory overtime as required This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.
