Corporate Product Safety Program Manager Responsibilities:

  • Analyze products, solutions, materials, parts, and components for adherence to regulations, standards, and IBM's product safety requirements; Advise design and development teams accordingly

  • Investigate and determine the root cause of any incidents which may occur, working closely with legal counsel as necessary

  • Be responsible for establishing IBM's own product safety requirements

  • Monitor and influence product safety regulatory requirements, including activity in IT Trade Associations

  • Support IBM personnel located in countries is assigned regions in developing national processes for certification

You will regularly interact with:

  • Corporate Product Safety and Hardware Compliance Staff,

  • Regional country compliance leadership including country GM's,

  • Systems and Solutions design and compliance teams,

  • Corporate CEA staff,

  • Research, Third Party Laboratories, Industry Peers and consortia.

Preferred locations: RTP, Tuscon or Rochester

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (EE, ME, IE, Physics)

  • 8 years experience in Product Safety Professional (IT industry or 3rd Party Laboratory)

  • Deep experience with regulations and regulatory compliance practices affecting the electronics industry

  • Expertise with product safety standards and certification processes

  • Ability to independently investigate and determine the root cause of incidents

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Masters degree in Engineering field

  • Information Technology Equipment HW Product Design or Development Test and Support - 5 years

  • Familiarity with hazard based safety engineering

  • Experience with electronic product design and development

  • Experience with international product safety conformity assessment
